I first began dog training 20 years ago with a delinquent Doberman and a rescue Border Collie. At that time we were very interested in obedience and agility and attended training clubs based around those activities. We both competed in obedience and I really enjoyed stewarding.

It was at this training club that I met Celine and found a true friend........that was 20 years ago!

During this time we started to help out a local Border Collie Rescue and thoroughly enjoyed our time with rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming these wonderful dogs. There were sad times too, but all the good times seeing dogs in happy homes far outweighed these.

Around the time that we accquired our first Alaskan Malamute I was becoming unhappy with the training methods being used on dogs, check chains, half checks and very negative training methods were normal practice.

I saw a demonstration of clicker training – and that was it, this was what I had been looking for!!! The dogs trained this way were happy and willing. I so wanted that for my own dogs. I bought loads of books, attended a few obedience clicker-training seminars and started out. It worked wonders on the Malamute, a breed not normally known for its trainability!!!

I then discovered some like minded people at our dog club and from there the four of us travelled to the Midlands several times to train with Kay Laurence of Learning About Dogs. Together the four of us have attained Level 2 in the Clicker Assessment Programme (CAP) and we are shortly undertaking our CAP 3.

I am an Approved Instructor with the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour (ADTB).

In 2006 I was a co founder of CleverClix Dog Training School based in Ormesby, Norfolk. Sadly after a house move I had to leave the club, but left it in the good hands of Christine Layton, Roy Lond and Elaine David who are all still part of this club. In setting up Paws4Clix I am lucky enought to be able to call on these fabulous people for help, advice and friendship and it is hope that when Paws4Clix is more established the 2 clubs can get together for some friendly matches, training days and fun!

Currently we race and attend conformation shows with the Malamutes and all the dogs do obedience and agility training. All the Malamutes have been clicker trained for their racing and breed shows and Vega knows over 40 different behaviours, she’s such a show off!!

I have a real interest in dog behaviour and particularly with rescue dogs!!

In January 2012 our lives are set to change forever as we welcome our new addition into the fold...............this one is furless and tailess and only has two legs!! Hopefully Casiats Junior Musher will be out and about at training next Spring!
